My story
I've always been drawn to physical activity. From a young age I tried all sorts of things — mainly running, swimming and basketball through my teenage years. Then, like a lot of young lads, I wanted to build muscle, which led to a shoulder injury that had a domino effect for years, through university and beyond.
That injury left me debating which path to take in life. At its worst, the pain affected my ability to use my hands whenever too much stress was applied. It was a difficult time, but an interesting journey — because as I began to recover, it reignited my interest in health and fitness in a whole new light.
I saw firsthand the difference that massage and stretching could make. It turned out I had a trapped nerve, and once I started stretching out my chest and using a massage ball, the pain began to resolve. That was the moment things clicked. I decided to go down this route to help others keep doing what they love — because massage can support recovery from injuries and help maintain and improve flexibility, which in turn helps prevent injuries from happening in the first place.
How I got here
I massaged throughout university while studying Sports Therapy, and went on to work full-time at Total Balance Clinic (Chiropratic) in Apsley. Now I'm looking to help more people like you. My aspiration is to help people in a more holistic way — to move freely and stay mobile, so they can live their best lives.
Pilates
I also took up Pilates to help my recovery from Chronic Lower Back Pain. I'll be honest: I've always been terrible with core stability and posture, and in hindsight I've realised just how foundational they are to anything you want to do in fitness and in life. It's a love-hate relationship — harder than lifting weights from a mental standpoint, which is exactly what makes it such a great challenge! So if you'd like to start building your core stability, I can help you master the foundations of Pilates.
Why I do this
But the biggest reason I believe in helping people stay active and moving? Because I've learned, from my own experiences and from observing others, that we all need this to be well-balanced. We all know movement is good for us, yet some of us still neglect it. As the saying goes: healthy body, healthy mind; healthy mind, healthy body. One of the main reasons people don't exercise is because of old or current injuries — I know this from personal experience, and it's exactly why I want to help keep people moving, so they can stay healthy in both body and mind.
Outside of work
In my spare time, I like reading and listening to content on personal development and health, and dabbling in things like cards and juggling. You'll often find me chatting with friends over some green tea or going for coffees. More recently (since 2022) I've started exploring martial arts — BJJ, Muay Thai and boxing — which are brilliant for functional movement, a genuinely sweaty workout, and great for the mind too. It's actually helped improve my own core strength and lower back pain (though this isn't clinical advice — always get cleared by an appropriate therapist first, and train at your own risk!). I also enjoy running with my girlfriend, on average two or three times a week, and getting outdoors as much as I can — as humans should! Although I won't pretend a good film or series isn't enjoyable too. :)
